TATE Liverpool

SO, it turns out the many times I’ve been down to Tate I’ve managed to miss an entire gallery floor. I went down just yesterday to find a painting for my end of month presentation, and after my usual gallery (that I’ve been in uncountable times as part of the Constellations exhibition) was closed off for a performance piece, I discovered Riverside Gallery 1, with paintings from the likes of Kandinsky and Perlin. I think I’ve renewed my love of the TATE.

Having previously researched Kandinsky during my GCSE art course, it was amazing to see a piece of his work in the flesh, as I’d spent hours and hours reading about him and even conducting my own versions of his work using sound, colour and emotion to influence my pieces.

There was also another piece, ‘Parts of the Face: French Vocabulary Lesson’ by Larry Rivers, which I really related to, with it being a portrait (quite abstract) of his wife, with her facial features labelled in french. Having taken french and art simultaneously I always found relations between the two. So, quite honestly this piece simply made me happy.

This concluded the end of my trip, as I was cut short by the fact half of the gallery spaces were closed for renovations and installations of new exhibitions. Here’s to next time…
