This evening I volunteered at the exhibition opening evening for the LOOK Photo Biennial part 2 which was to take place all across the city, with the main event at the Open Eye Gallery; PEER to PEER.
The volunteers had a brief chance to look around the exhibition before it opened and then were assigned jobs for the evening that we would switch between throughout the night. There was bar, front desk, running glasses/tidying and the tombola. With experiences from my full time employment, I was asked to man the bar and later spent the evening washing, polishing and packing away the glasses from the night. It was a busy night and the footfall was consistent all night, and although the glass washing became a bit mundane, the evening was really enjoyable and I was able to meet and chat to other volunteers. The afterparty at Constellations was a great chance to network with these new acquaintances as well as Open Eye employees too!
